DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team ended its five-game losing streak in style Wednesday night as a 23-point, six trey performance from
Frankie Denvir propelled the Devils past Delaware Valley 94-90 on the road to sweep the season series against the Aggies.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
- Denvir's 23 points led all Devils scorers on 8-of-13 shooting including a 6-for-11 night from beyond the arc.
- Chris Smith tallied 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting and added four boards.
- Gino Romano netted 14 points, going 4-for-11 from the field including a 3-for-7 day from the three-point line.
- Noah Pagan recorded 11 points with six rebounds and two blocks.
- O'Malley King put up his first career double digit scoring effort with 10 points.
- Mac Creek recorded 10 assists
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies found their way on the board first after a Jeremiah Lee jumper at the 18:57 mark.
- Lee put the Aggies up 7-0 right away as he followed his initial jumper with a triple and a layup, but the Devils answered with a trey from Denvir and two made free throws from Pagan.
- The Aggies extended their lead to seven, 21-14 with 7:57 left, but the Devils kept chipping away as late triple from Keem Langevine on an assist from Denvir cut the FDU deficit to just one at 28-27 at the break.
- After a layup from Lee, King drained a trey to knot the contest at 30 apiece with 19:08 to play.
- The Aggies continued to lead until the 12:59 mark, and from here on out neither team held a lead larger than five points.
- With 1:58 remaining, and the Devils down 63-62, Denvir drained a triple to put the Devils ahead 65-62, but four points from the Aggies put Delaware Valley back up 67-65 with 75 seconds left.
- Then with 16 seconds to play, King connected on a layup to send the game to its first OT.
- Denvir began the first overtime period with the hot hand as he connected for five points with a jumper followed by another triple to put FDU ahead 72-70 with 4:08 left.
- Denvir continued to come up clutch for the Devils as he hit his sixth three-pointer of the game, and the ensuing free throw after being fouled, to complete the four-point play and put FDU up 79-78.
- The Aggies' Mike Herrin sent the game to its second overtime period after an FDU foul put him at the line, hitting just one of two.
- FDU took an immediate lead in the second OT as King laid one off the glass followed by a Smith layup to take an 83-79 lead.
- Smith iced the game with 38 seconds left as he completed a three-point play to put FDU up 91-85 eventually leading to the 94-90 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Denvir's six made three-pointers were the most in a game for an individual Devils player since Brian Nicholas drained seven against Marywood in Nov. of 2023.
- This was the third time Denvir knocked down five or more threes in a game and was the 11th time a Devils player notched four or more in a game.
- Wednesday's game was the first road win for the Devils this season.
- This was the first time this season the Devils finished with five or more players having double digit points.
- Creek recorded 10 assists in a game for the second time this season with both coming in wins over the Aggies.
- Wednesday's game was the first time FDU scored 90 or more points in a win this season.
- The 17 lead changes in Wednesday's game were the most for FDU in a game this season surpassing the 13 lead changes against Stevenson.
