Men's Lacrosse Falls to Manhattanville 9-8 in Hard Fought Contest

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team fell to Manhattanville University 9-8 Saturday afternoon in a close game at home. 
 
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The Valiants drew first blood in the first quarter as Manhattanville's Michael Karabinchak found the back of the Devils' net with 11:10 left to go. 
  • The Devils responded with a goal from Scheublin on an assist from Justin Perillo
  • In the second, the Valiants' Nick Corace put Manhattanville back on top just 45 seconds into the second period.
  • With 8:04 to go before the break, Frank Tallerico extended the Manhattanville lead to 3-1 with a goal of his own. 
  • By the break, the Devils trailed 4-1. 
  • In the third, Hall answered with his lone goal of the contest to make it 5-2, but Tallerico made it a three-goal game with 10:22 on the clock. 
  • Back-to-back goals from Collins and Carbo made it a one-goal game by the 8:40 mark in the third. 
  • Manhattanville closed out the period with two more goals, but Dugan netted his first of the game to keep it a two-goal difference at 7-5 heading to the fourth period. 
  • Manhattanville netted a man-up goal to begin the fourth, followed by an FDU goal from DiGiacomo. 
  • The Valiants' Drew Palladino scored his second goal of the game to once again make it a three-goal game, goal from Carbo cut the Devils' deficit to just two with 5:58 left in regulation. 
  • With 2:07 remaining, Manhattanville scored an own goal and made it a one-goal contest, but after a Devils' turnover with 1:36 to play, the Valiants ran out the remaining time on the game clock. 
GAME NOTES
  • Saturday's two-goal performance was Carbo's third-career multi-goal game. 
  • This was the first time FDU lost to Manhattanville since April 11, 2018. 
  • FDU's face-off specialists finished with 12 on the day compared to Manhattanville's nine. 
UP NEXT
The Devils will remain at home as FDU welcomes UMSV to Robert T. Shields Field for a nighttime non-conference match-up. First face-off is set for 7 p.m.
