Men's Basketball Tops Arcadia at Home

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team potentially played seeding-spoiler on Wednesday night as the Devils topped the Knights 78-75 on the road.

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Chris Smith tallied 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting with eight boards.
  • Gino Romano also netted 14 points on 4-of-8 from three-point range and went 2-for-2 from the stripe.
  • Mac Creek finished with 13 points on 4-of-13 from the field and pulled down eight boards and recorded six assists.
  • Frankie Denvir rounded out the Devils' double figure scorers as he finished with 12 points on two threes and a perfect 6-for-6 from the stripe.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Devils struck first as Creek laid one up after recording a steal, but the Knights answered with a trey from Josh Parks and the back-and-forth first half began.
  • After a triple from Noah Pagan put FDU ahead 11-6 at the 14:40 mark, Arcadia answered once again four straight points to make it a one-point game with 13:26 to play.
  • From 13:26 to the 11:16 mark, the two squads traded blows back and forth as neither team took more than a three-point lead, but after consecutive treys from Romano and Creek, the Devils led 22-16 with 11:16 on the clock.
  • By the 6:06 mark, the Knights only trailed by one, 27-26 with 6:08 left, but another Romano trey made it a two-possession lead by the 4:17 stamp.
  • With 2:38 left, Micah Moore gave the Devils their largest lead of the first half as he knocked down a three-pointer to put the Devils up 35-28 and help FDU to a 38-34 lead by the break.
  • Angel Smith began the scoring in the second half with a layup, but the Knights once again made it a one-possession game with a trey from Jamison Lynam.
  • By the 13:23 mark, the Devils took a 52-42 advantage after a 10-3 run capped off by another trey from Moore.
  • This was FDU's biggest lead of the contest as Arcadia never led in the second half. The Knights made it a one-point game with 4:17 remaining in regulation but five straight points from the Devils on a Denvir three and two Smith free throws put the game out of reach for the Knights.
GAME NOTES
  • After the Knights knotted the game at 16 apiece with 12:12 left in the first half, FDU never relinquished its lead.
  • This was FDU's third win in its last four games against Arcadia.
  • Romano's four threes were the 13th time a Devils player finished with four or more treys in a game.
  • Wednesday's game was Smith's 22nd double digit scoring effort of the season.
