HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars got out to an early 8-2 lead after a Matt Prociak three-pointer, but a quick 11-1 run from the Devils, highlighted by two treys from Denvir, put FDU ahead 13-9 with 12:50 left in the first half.
  • The two squads traded blows up to the 4:22 mark when Romano knocked down a triple to give the Devils a 27-22 edge, but five points from the Cougars knotted the game at 27 apiece with 3:03 to play.
  • FDU ended the half with four straight points, and the Devils took a 31-27 lead into the break.
  • In the second half, the Devils extended their lead to six, 36-30, after a Romano trey at the 17:14 mark.
  • The Cougars then knotted the game at both the 15:31 and 14:30 marks before FDU took its last lead of the contest as Micah Moore knocked down a triple to put the Devils up 46-44 with 11:49 left to go.
  • This was FDU's final lead of the day as the Devils tied the game twice more down the stretch, but the Cougars used a 9-0 run to pull away.
  • At the 3:11 mark, FDU's offense showed a spark as Noah Pagan threw down a thunderous dunk followed by a three-pointer to make it a one-point game with 3:11 left in regulation, but FDU was unable to overcome the deficit.
