DALLAS, Pa. – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team dropped a road contest 89-80 to the Misericordia University Cougars Saturday afternoon.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
- Frankie Denvir led the scoring for the Devils as the sophomore finished with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting and 5-of-9 from the three-point line.
- Mac Creek recorded 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting and a 5-for-7 day from the stripe.
- Chris Smith tallied 14 points on 5-of-11 from the field with eight rebounds.
- Noah Pagan recorded his second double-double of the season with an 11-point, 11-rebound day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars put six points on the board with consecutive threes to take a 6-0 lead by the 17:44 mark.
- By the 13:03 mark, FDU trailed 17-10, but an 8-0 run from the Devils put FDU ahead 18-17 with 9:33 left to play in the first half.
- The two squads traded blows for the remainder of the half, but with 1:52 to go before the break, Misericordia took a 40-34 lead.
- Right before the end of the half, Creek hit a trey to cut the FDU deficit to just three points at 42-39.
- The Cougars commanded the entire second half as Misericordia took an early six-point lead to open the second half.
- Misericordia's lead eventually ballooned to 11 points, 73-62, with 6:44 remaining in regulation.
- With 34 seconds left, a triple from Denvir cut the FDU deficit to six, but that was the closest the Devils would come, falling by nine, 89-80.
GAME NOTES
- Pagan's double-double was the sixth this season for the Devils.
- This was Smith's 14th double-digit game this season.
- Denvir's five threes were the ninth time a Devils player tallied four or more treys in a game and the second time he knocked down five in a game this season.
