Football Falls to St. John Fisher, 21-0

MADISON, N.J. – FDU-Florham football opened the 2025 campaign with a 21-0 loss to St. John Fisher Saturday afternoon at home.

Devils Highlights  How it Happened
  • Saturday's game began slowly for both sides as neither squad found the end zone in the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, St. John Fisher's Deante Hall scored the game's first points with a 39-yard run with 10:24 to left to play in the first half.
  • With 2:21 remaining, the Cardinals quarterback Ryan Whitney found Shawn Watson for a 33-yard touchdown to put Fisher up 14-0 after the PAT. Soon thereafter, FDU took over on the St. John Fisher 25 and on the first play of the drive, a Yascko pass turned into an FDU fumble, leading to a 75-yard return for the Cardinals and the third touchdown of the day for St. John Fisher.
  • In the third, the FDU offense put together one of its best drives of the afternoon as three Edwards rushes put the Devils in the red zone, but another FDU fumble quickly ended the drive.
  • The fourth quarter saw one more scoring attempt from the Devils as FDU set up for a 25-yard field goal, but it sailed just right of the upright.
  • St. John Fisher's final drive of the day saw the Cardinals reach the FDU 25 as two kneel downs from the Fisher quarterback with 1:40 left put the game on ice.
Game Notes
  • Saturday's game was the first start of Yascko's career
  • Saturday's game was the first time since 2023 against then ranked No. 24/25 Delaware Valley that the Devils have been shutout.
  • FDU rushed for 186 yards compared to the Cardinals 173 on the day.
