Football Falls at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham football team dropped its second game in a row as the Devils fell 37-13 to MAC foe Lebanon Valley on the road Saturday afternoon.

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jake Sconza was 16-for-27 in completions and threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Kwanir Edwards had 21 attempts on the ground, logging 88 total yards with his longest being a 13-yard run.
  • Michael Alvarez and Joe Marcello hauled in FDU's two touchdowns on the afternoon with Marcello having the Devils longest catch in the air at 27 yards.
  • Matt Heinemann and Sam McNair tallied six tackles each with Heinemann recording one of FDU's two sacks on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • FDU's first drive of the day began as a promising one as four-yard run from Edwards and a six-yard pass completed to Patrick LePoidevin resulted in a Devils first down. The drive made it to FDU's 36-yard line before the Devils punt team took the field. The Dutchmen blocked the FDU punt and returned it for the first score of the game with 8:20 left in the opening quarter.
  • The second quarter began with a three-and-out for the Devils. The Dutchmen took over at their own three-yard line and after charging down field and having a touchdown nullified die to a holding call, the Dutchmen doubled their lead on a 19-yard pass to Trey Freeman making it 14-0 with 7:47 left to go in the half. With a field goal with under 10 seconds to go in the half, the Dutchmen made it a 17-0 game at halftime.
  • In the third quarter, Sconza connected with Marcello on a 27-yard pass down the middle as Marcello ran it into the LVC endzone for the Devils first touchdown of the season, making it a 17-6 game.
  • LVC answered in the fourth as the Dutchmen scored 20 points that were unanswered until a 20-yard pass from Sconza to Alvarez made it a 37-13 game.
GAME NOTES
  • Saturday's touchdowns were the first two of Sconza's career.
  • Alvarez's 20-yard touchdown was the first TD of his career and his longest career reception.
  • Marcello joined Alvarez and Sconza with career firsts as his 27-yard touchdown reception was the first of his career.
  • Matt Heinemann extended his streak of having at least half of a sack to four straight games dating back to last season.
