Field Hockey Breezes Past Albertus Magnus

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham field hockey team erupted for seven goals Sunday afternoon as the Devils shut out Albertus Magnus 7-0 at home to end their two-game losing skid. 

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Devils came out firing on all cylinders in the first period as FDU notched two penalty corners and two shots in the first three minutes but could not find the back of the Albertus Magnus cage. Finally, at the 9:05 mark, Ercolani netted the first goal of the match to put the Devils up 1-0. Later in the period, Medina scored on a penalty stroke to put FDU ahead 2-0. 
  • Early in the second period, Dombrowski found the back of the Falcons cage on an assist from Medina for her fourth goal of the season to extend the Devils lead to 3-0. Then, 35 seconds before the halftime horn, Munoz netted an unassisted goal to give FDU a 4-0 lead heading into intermission.
  • Just 2:10 into the third period, Blair scored her first career goal for FDU's fifth goal of the afternoon. At the 41:21mark, Medina scored her second of the match followed by a barrage of five straight shots for the Devils from the 42:46 stamp to 43:02 left in the period. 
  • Medina capped off her hat trick in the fourth period with an unassisted goal to put the game on ice for the Devils and seal the 7-0 victory. 
MATCH NOTES
  • Munoz and Blair each scored their first career goals. 
  • Medina's hat trick was the third of her career. 
  • Sunday's seven goals were the most scored in a by a Devils field hockey team since defeating Manhattanville 8-1 on Oct. 24, 2018.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17 as FDU hosts Manhattanville. Start time is slated for 7 p.m.
