Men's Soccer Falls 2-1 to Madison Ave Rival, Drew

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham Devils men's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a 2-1 loss to Madison Ave. rival Drew University Friday night on the road. 
 
Devils Highlights
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Victor Ciach notched 13 saves in his 90 minutes of action.
  • Sophomore Piotr Widerynski tallied the lone goal for the Devils.
  • First-year Betim Zhuta led the Devils with two shots, both being on frame.
  • Junior Genti Dauti recorded the assist on Widerynski's goal
How it Happened
  • The first half of action saw a borage of shots from the Drew Rangers offense, but Ciach managed to stop all 13 in the half. 
  • The Devils managed only two shots in the first half but got the scoring going in the second half as Widerynski found the back of the Rangers net in the 55' of action. 
  • Ciach remained battle tested as Drew peppered the FDU goal with 14 shots in the second half. 
  • The Rangers broke through in the 81' to knot the game at one apiece and then took a 2-1 lead in the 88' and would go on to win by the same score. 
Up Next
The Devils will host the second day of the Drew/FDU Festival on Sunday, Aug. 31 in the consolation game against Kean at Robert T. Shields Field. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m.
