Bayonne, N.J. (April 29)- The fourth-seeded FDU-Florham men's tennis team was upended in the MAC Freedom semifinals to the top-seeded and defending champions Stevens, 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Ducks jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the doubles portion of the match In Doubles #1,
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J) were bested by a 6-2 score.
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and
Nick Weglinski (Wayne,NJ) fell in Doubles #2 6-1 and
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Chase Miller (Freehold ,NJ ) were almost blanked 6-1, in Doubles #3.
Per the MAC Championship rules, the full contest only plays until the match-clinching victory is had. With Emery suffering a 6-1, 6-0 loss in Singles #1, Duval falling short in Singles #2 6-0, 6-2, and Andresen seeing a loss of 6-1, 6-0 in Singles #6, the match was ended with the rest of the singles matches becoming unfinished.
With the loss, men's tennis wrapped up its fifth consecutive run in the MAC Freedom Playoffs and the 2024-25 season.
