Dallas, PA (April 26)- The FDU-Florham Men's Lacrosse Team traveled to Misericordia for its final regular season contest in MAC Freedom action and was able to steadily score two goals two goals in each quarter, but was outscored by the Cougars, 19-8.
FDU-Florham (10-6, 3-4 MAC Freedom) saw
Brenden Fabin (Randolph, NJ) effort of three goals in his last regular season game. Both
Anthony DiGiacomo (Paramus, NJ) and
Ronnie Trisuzzi (Rockaway, NJ) added two goals to improve the Devils' scoring efforts.
Misericordia (8-8, 4-3 MAC Freedom) saw three of its players record a hat trick in the win.
Misericordia quickly started the game with two goals in the first five minutes of action. Fabin notched the Devils' first goal of the day after working the ball around, off the face-off win from
Nick Matthew (Kinnelon, NJ). With 2:43 remaining, FDU-Florham added its second goal to make a one-goal difference, but the Cougars had the last shot as they put up their fourth goal before the scoreboard hit zero.
The home team opened the second set of 15 minutes with a four-goal run until the Devils added their third with 5:45 remaining. FDU-Florham was able to get the last shot of this quarter as Trisuzzi added the fourth goal, 4-10.
Misericordia was able to put through another two before the Devils were able to score again. The score kept climbing but at a rapid pace for the Cougars as the score read 16-6, with only one quarter remaining.
The Devils gave one final effort as they found a offensive burst in the last ten minutes, but was not able to start a comeback as they were handed a 19-8 loss, resulting in Misericordia taking the last spot in the MAC Freedom Playoffs from FDU-Florham.
Anthony Pieroni (Branchburg, NJ) stood in the crease for all 60 minutes of action and accounted for 6 saves, before officially receiving the loss.
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 29 shots, 29 ground balls, and won 18 face-offs.
Misericordia as a team generated 42 shots, 29 ground balls, and won 13 face-offs.
FDU-Florham completed the regular season with the best record since 2017, as they had a total of 10 wins, with the 2012 team collecting 8 wins. The Devils will now await word of their berth in the ECAC Championship Tournament.
