Ewing, NJ (April 12)- In a multi-day event, the FDU-Florham Men's Track & Field Team took on the events of the TCNJ Invitational and saw multiple Devils compete against 27 other teams in attendance.
Starting off the invitational was Navir Gandy as he raced in the 100m and clocked a time of 12.09, taking seventh overall.
Francisco Tanez (West Orange, NJ) was just .09 seconds behind his teammate, as he took 8
th (12.18). Closing the event was
Ty Wagner (Wappingers Fall, NY) closed the event for the Devils with a time of 12.31 for 9
th overall.
Taking the lead in the 200m, sophomore
Nathaniel Evely (Bogota, NJ) was first overall for his team but placed 17
th in the invitational (23.58). With multiple times being recorded in the event
, Lucas Sorrentino (Staten Island, NY) was just over a second behind and took 39
th overall (24.74). Gandy placed third for the team and 40
th overall (24.84), and Tanez finished the event for the Devils in 43
rd (25.00).
Another large group of Devils competed in the 400m as
Nathaniel Perrelli (Fanwood, NJ) led with a time of 55.30 (33
rd overall), who was followed by Sorrentino who was .36 seconds behind to for a time of 55.66 (37
th overall).
Shane Breedlove (Richmond, Va.) marked his first event of the weekend with a time of 57.38 (43
rd overall).
Norbert Martinez (Roxbury, NJ) and
Kyle Savannah both recorded times above the minute mark, as Martinez crossed the line and clocked a 1:01.02 (54
th overall) and Savannah marked a 1:02.12 (55
th overall).
Taking their shot at a better personal time in the 400m hurdles this week was Breedlove and Norbert. They both were just off from reaching a PR as Breedlove recorded a 1:04.38 for 12
th overall and Norbert took 17
th overall for 1:12.27.
The Devils who started to increase the distance in the meet for the 800m was
Luke Passarelli (Brick, NJ) as he recorded a 2:15.77, placing him 26
th.
Beckett Burcat (Basking Ridge, NJ) also gave his best efforts and stopped his mark at 2:23.14, placing him 32
nd.
The next distance event that FDU-Florham held saw Savannah and Burcat in the 1500m. Placing 51
st with a time of 4:47.66 was Savannah, as the results had a placement of 53
rd with a time of 4:53.68 for Burcat.
The final distance event of the week for the Devils did not occur at the TCNJ Invitational, but at the Bill Butler Invitational hosted by West Chester. Junior
Emmanuel Torode (Roxbury, NJ) competed in the 10,000m and set the record at 35:30.23, and also took first in the event.
Getting things rolling in the field events for the Devils was
Joseph Teresi (Ocean Twp, NJ) as for the first time this season, he has not recorded a new school record after the conclusion of the weekend. He threw a mark of 14.10m in the shot put (6
th) and a distance of 36.32m in the discus.
The Devils were also able to enter a relay team in the 4x100m Relay and took a combined time of 45.81 as the fourth fastest time in the meet.
FDU-Florham now looks at Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19, for its next meet at the All-American Invitational, hosted by East Stroudsburg. Events are set to start at 10am.
