Dallas, Pa (April 11)- The FDU-Florham Men's Tennis (5-4, 2-0 MAC Freedom)was able to walk away from their trip to Misericordia (3-7, 0-4 MAC Freedom) with their second MAC Freedom win of the year, as they defeated the cougars by a 6-1 score.
To start the conference match up, both pairs of Devil duos consisting
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) in Double #1, as well as
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, NJ) and
Nick Weglinski (Wayne, NJ) in Doubles #2 won their matches by a 6-4 score. FDU-Florham Forfeits Doubles #3 to Misericordia but retains the overall doubles point.
Emery started things in the Singles portion of the match for the Devils with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in Singles #1. Duval was put to work in Singles #2 as his first set went into 7-6 score with a 7-3 tie breaker. His second was won with a 6-3 scoring effort, which helped secure the point.
Singles #3 remained in favor of the Devils as Liwag won his match in a 6-3, 6-2 score. Weglinski followed in even points allowed in Singles #4, 6-2, 6-2.
Chase Miller (Freehold, NJ) gave his Cougar opponent a worry as his first set went into a 7-5 score in favor of Miller, but then had none at all when he closed Singles #5 with a 6-2 set win. Unfortunately, Singles #6 was forfeited by the Devils as it was Misericordia's lone point in FDU's 6-1 overall win.
FDU-Florham will rest until Wednesday, April 16 as they are set to travel to King's for a 3pm MAC Freedom match up.
