Madison, NJ (April 1)- The FDU-Florham Men's Lacrosse team was playing no games when they were seen hosting Cairn for non-conference action, as the Devils quickly racked up a 25-3 win and a 59-year-old program record.
FDU-Florham (7-2) There were three Devils who scored 4 goals and four Devils who scored 3 goals. Highlighting the team effort was sophomore
Bud Snyder (Arlington Heights, Ill.) as he was a part of 9 goals, breaking the 59-year-old single-game assists record.
Carin (0-7) each had a player score one of their goals, but Cole Heffler gathered an assist as well.
FDU-Florham gave a strong performance in the first quarter as they steadily added their first 8 goals throughout the 15 minutes. Cairn found an opportunity to avoid a shutout by adding their first goal 45 seconds into the new quarter.
The Devils' side of the scoreboard continued to climb higher and out of reach of the Highlanders as it read 15-1 by halftime.
Anthony DiGiacomo (Paramus, NJ) got right to work for FDU in the second half as he notched a goal just over a minute into the third quarter. Cairn was able to add their second goal of the game before the clock hit zero, and so did the Devils as
Ricky Lewis (Washington, NJ) as he added the 22nd goal with 21 seconds remaining.
FDU-Florham slowed their pace, trying to work the ball around for a better opportunity and they did as three more goals were added. The Highlanders gave one final effort and netted one more goal before surrendering a 25-3 loss to the Devils.
Anthony Pieroni (Branchburg, NJ) (7-2) gave minimal effort as he was only forced to make 2 saves in the game. Nico Cione of Cairn was put to work for 23 saves in the game.
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 66 shots, 75 ground balls and won 20 face-offs.
Cairn as a team generated 12 shots, 18 ground balls, and won 11 face-offs.
FDU-Florham will visit Arcadia for its first MAC Freedom Contest of the season on Saturday, April 5, for a 4:00 pm contest.
