Madison, NJ (March 29) – FDU-Florham Women's Tennis (1-8) took on Manhattanville (14-3) in their home opener of the 2025 spring season. Unfortunately, they were beaten by a score of 7-0.
In doubles, FDU played three matches.
Meliha Bektesevic (Wayne, NJ) and
Paula Vanegas (Guttenberg, NJ) took on Suzi Doyle and Amaya Ortiz in Doubles #1, but fell by a score of 6-1.
Ivonne Ambrosio Vargas and
Lindsay Sperling (Whippany, NJ) played in Doubles #2, but also fell by a score of 6-1 to Adrianna Filipelli and Addsion Ortiz. Doubles #3 wasn't much better, as
Giavana Caraccioli (Bound Brook, NJ) and
Marilu Guzman (Newark, NJ) fell 6-0 to Maria Gutierrez and Sara King.
The Singles Portion was sadly more of the same. Bektesevic lost in straight sets to Doyle 6-4, 6-3 in Singles #1. Singles #2 saw Vargas fall short against Amaya Ortiz, 6-1, 6-0. Vanegas battled against Fillipelli in Singles #3, but lost in two straight 6-1's. Sperling faced Addison Ortiz in Singles #4, but was beaten 6-1, 6-2. Caraccioli lost to Gutierrez in Singles #5, 6-1, 6-0. Lastly, Guzman fell 6-0, 6-0 against King in Singles #6, which was the final match of the day.
FDU-Florham looks to rebound as they kick off their in-conference matchups, against Lebanon Valley on April 5
th at home. First serve will be at 12:00 PM.
