Mahwah, NJ (March 29)- The FDU-Florham Men's Track and Field team competed in the Ramapo Invitational and saw three new school records, including breaking two records that were set at the Devils' previous meet.
The 100m dash saw
Nathaniel Evely (Bogota, NJ) take 5
th overall with a time of 11.35.
Richie Welton (Middletown, NJ) followed behind his teammate by .40 seconds but finished 14th overall (11.75). Three other Devils were seen in the event, including
Ty Wagner (Wappingers Fall, NY) who ran for a time of 12.07 (27
th overall),
Francisco Tanez (West Orange, NJ) clocked a 12.13 (29
th overall),
Lucas Sorrentino (Staten Island, NY) finished just behind Tanez with a time of 12.14 (30
th overall) and a new personal record.
The 200m dash saw Evely take 15
th overall and a new school record of 23.06 for 15
th overall. Welton finished his first and only event of the invitational with a time of 24.04 for 32
nd overall. Sorrentino captured another personal record by crossing the line at the 24.53 mark.
The Devils had many entries in the 400m dash an say two performances in the top 25 results.
Nathaniel Perrelli (Fanwood, NJ) held the fastest time for the Devils in the event as he took 17
th with a time of 53.21 and even recorded a personal best time as well. Sorrentino performed a time of 53.84 (22
nd) for his third event of the meet
. Luke Passarelli (Brick, NJ) was the next fastest time for the Devils (55.43, 26
th overall) with
Shane Breedlove (Richmond, Virginia) being the fourth runner in the event for the Devils (56.54) and also recording a personal best. First year
Norbert Martinez (Roxbury, NJ) rounded out the event for FDU with a time and placement of 1:01.19 for 40
th.
Showing improvements from the previous meet, Breedlove and Norbert both ran the 400m hurdles and clocked personal bests for 16
th overall (1:03.89) and 23
rd overall (1:11.71).
Kyle Savannah's first event was the 800m, which resulted in a time of 2:19.83, which was the 31st-best time in the meet.
The 1500m was the first distance challenge of the meet for the Devils, but it was no match as all three Devils recorded sub-5-minute times.
Emmanuel Torode (Roxbury, NJ) was the fastest Devil in the event as he recorded a time of 4:35.34 for 32
nd overall. Next was Savannah with a placement of 44
th and a time of 4:52.60.
Beckett Burcat (Basking Ridge, NJ) finished just after his teammate but was separated by one placement, 46
th overall (4:53.93).
Evan McGinnity was the only Devil to participate in the 5000m. The first year placed 14
th overall with a time of 17:09.98.
In the field events,
Joseph Teresi (Ocean Twp, NJ) dominated personal and program outdoor marks as he surpassed the school record with a throw of 41.46m in the Discus, and a throw if 15.04m in the shot put. He placed 7
th in the discus and made his way to the podium in the shot put for 2
nd.
The Final event of the day for the Devils was the 4x800m relay as a team of McGinnity, Passarelli, Perrelli, and Torode in which they clocked a combined time of 8:41.36, making them the 6
th best team at the meet.
FDU-Florham now looks to Saturday, April 5 for its next meet at the Ursinus Track & Field Festival. Events are set to start at 10:30am.
