Wilkes-Barre, PA (March 22) - The FDU-Florham Women's Track and Field team returned from spring break to participate in the King's Outdoor Track & Field Monarch Open in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The Devils competed in various events and achieved new program records.
Four runners competed for FDU in multiple events to begin the meet, including the Women's 200m, 400m, 1500m, 5000m, and 400m Hurdles. In the 200m Brianna Fenderson (Edison, N.J.) finished in 3rd place for the Devils with a time of 14.40. Bianca Burke (Bridgewater, N.J.) and Fenderson ran the 400m, with Burke placing 2nd on the podium running a time of 27.24 and Fenderson in 4th with a time of 29.30. Burke also participated in the 400m, placing 2nd on the podium earning a time of 1:02.28. Julia Flynn (Manhattan, N.Y.) ran in the 1500m, earning 5th place with a time of 6:15.94 and a program record. Briella Bagnato (Allendale, N.J.) placed 2nd for the Devils in the 5000m, earning a time of 21:08.02 and raced a new program record. In the final race for FDU was Alyssa Orio () in the 400m Hurdles as she placed 2nd on the podium with a time of 1:22.03.
In Fields events, the Devils participated in the Discus Throw and Javelin. Irem Ucar (Parsippany, NJ) and Brianna Flatt (Bridgewater, NJ) participated in the Discus Throw. Ucar placed 8th with a throw of 27.39m while Flatt earned 11th with a throw of 17.89m.Sophia Navarro (Roxbury, NJ) finished the day for the Devils as she competed in the Women's Javelin Throw as she placed 6th with a distance of 4.50m.
FDU-Florham will return to the track on March 28th as they participate in the Ramapo Invitational starting at 3:00 PM.
