Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Comes Up Short Against DeSales, 70-56.

Madison, NJ (February 8) - The FDU Men's Basketball team was defeated at home against DeSales with a score of 70-56. 

Francis Denvir (Holland Township, N.J.) led the Devils with 11 points. Christopher Smith (Florham Park, NJ) and Mac Creek (Louisville, KY.) followed behind each with 9.  

FDU opened the first half of game play with an 8-3 run against DeSales, with Devils baskets coming from Creek and Jaqwan Washington (Bryan, TX). The Devils worked to stay in the lead, but the Bulldogs took it at the 14:17 time stamp with a score of 11-10. The Devils did not let the Bulldogs lead for long, as they reached an even 15-15 with a Devils 3-pointer from James Zingaro (Stratford, NJ) at the 13:25 minute mark. The Bulldogs then went on a 9-point unanswered run against the Devils, taking the score to 24-15 with 11:06 remaining in the half. FDU baskets from Washington and Creek helped the Devils close the gap to a 6-point deficit, 29-23, but DeSales maintained their lead with 6:42 on the clock. DeSales ended the first half with a 10-point lead against the Devils, 37-27. 

DeSales went into the second half of the game with the advantage of being up 10 points against FDU. The Devils worked to gain offensive possession, but the Bulldogs expanded their lead to 41-27 at the 18:24 minute mark. FDU scorers Denvir, Creek, Jamal Santana (Randolph, NJ), and Zingaro kept the Devils from expanding their deficit further, reaching a score of 53-40 with 9:58 left of regulation. The Bulldogs continued to put up points, making it difficult for the Devils to regain the lead. The final points for the Devils came from Denvir, Zingaro, and Smith, all scoring 3-pointers to finish the game. DeSales' offensive drive continued to bring them to the rim, ultimately ending with a 70-56 win over the Devils. 

As a team, FDU-Florham shot 39.2 percent (20-51) from the floor, 32.1 percent (9-28) from three-point range, and 77.8 percent (7-9) from the free throw line. They totaled 16 points in the paint, 17 off the bench, and 7 off turnovers. 

DeSales shot 43.1 percent (22-51) from the floor, 4.23 percent (11-26) from three-point range, and 78.9 percent (15-19) from the free throw line. They totaled 22 points in the paint, 30 off the bench, and 14 off turnovers. 

FDU-Florham will go on the road as they face off against Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, February 12th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
