Men’s Basketball Defeated by Lebanon Valley, 79-75

Annville, PA (February 12) - The FDU Men's Basketball team lost a close battle against the Flying Dutchmen in Annville, PA.  

Francis Denvir (Holland Township, N.J.) led the Devils, scoring 21 points and 3 rebounds. Following behind Denvir were Jaqwan Washington (Bryan, TX), earning 15 points, and Adam Ziegler (West Grove, PA) with 11 points and 7 rebounds. 

The Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen opened the first half with a 14-point answered run against the Devils. FDU broke their scoring streak with a 3-pointer from Denvir at the 14:58 minute mark. FDU baskets from Christopher Smith (Florham Park, NJ), Ziegler, Denvir, and Mac Creek (Louisville, KY.) helped the Devils close the gap, but they remained in a double-digit deficit for a majority of the half. The Devils' offensive efforts brought the score to 24-14 with 4:59 remaining in the half. Towards the final minutes of the half, the Devils started to gain offensive possession more consistently with baskets from Noah Pagan (Ringwood, NJ), Denvir, Washington, and Smith, taking the score to a 5-point Devils deficit, 31-26 at the half.  

During the second half, the Flying Dutchmen extended their lead against the Devils, bringing the score to 41-31 with 17:08 on the clock. The 10-point deficit remained consistent until late in the half. Devils' baskets from Pagan, Ziegler, and Washington closed the gap to 62-55 at the 6:43 time stamp. With less than 4 minutes left of game play, a 3-pointer from Denvir brought the score to an even 66-66, followed by a layup which put FDU in the lead for the first time, 68-66. Scorers Washington and Denvir kept the Devils in the game, which remained close as the Flying Dutchmen and FDU went point for point. The Devils fought hard until the last seconds to hold off the Flying Dutchmen, but Lebanon Valley was able to clutch the final basket of the game, ultimately defeating FDU 79-75. 

As a team, FDU-Florham shot 46.2 percent (24-52) from the floor, 36.4 percent (8-22) from three-point range, and 70.4 percent (19-27) from the free throw line. They totaled 28 points in the paint, 35 off the bench, and 20 off turnovers. 

Lebanon Valley shot 50 percent (29-58) from the floor, 33.3 percent (7-21) from three-point range, and 66.7 percent (14-21) from the free throw line. They totaled 38 points in the paint, 0 off the bench, and 22 off turnovers. 

FDU-Florham will return home on Saturday February 15th, to celebrate the graduating students on the Men's Basketball team. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
