Madison, NJ (February 26)- In non-conference action, The FDU-Florham Men's Lacrosse team ensured its best start in program history with not only a 25-4 win over Centenary but two note-worthy milestones by one of its seniors.
FDU-Florham (3-0) top goal scorer was
Brenden Fabin (Randolph, NJ) who not only notched 12 points from 10 goals and 2 assists but captured the single-game record for most goals scored, along with hitting the mark of 100 career points.
Justin Perillo (Jackson, NJ) added 5 goals to the scoring effort as eight other Devils scored as well.
Centenary (0-2) had most of its goals scored by Brian Rosko as he notched 3 on the day.
The first goal was scored within seconds of the first face-off, as Perillo launched the first ball past the Centenary goalie. The Devils were able to shut down the Cyclones as the score read 15-0 by the end of the first quarter.
FDU-Florham pressed on the breaks as their next goal was not scored until there was a minute remaining in the second quarter. Centenary ensured they avoided a shutout before time expired as they saw their first shot sore past the Devils' goalie. FDU quickly returned the favor and ended the first 30 minutes of play with a 17-1 score.
The Devils slowly started to pump the gas again as seven goals were added throughout the third quarter. Centenary added its second goal with 2:44 remaining, as it was also the last goal of the quarter for either team.
The Cyclones were the first to strike in the final 15 minutes of the game and also consumed the last goal as they ultimately fell to the Devils by a score of 25-4.
FDU-Florham had two goalies prepare for the Cyclones offense, but only
Ben Weintraub (Clark, NJ) was forced to make one save on the day. Centenary's goalies combined for 13 saves on the day.
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 58 shots, 54 ground balls and won 29 face-offs.
Centenary as a team, generated 17 shots, 19 ground balls, and won 4 face-offs.
FDU-Florham will take a trip to Immaculata for non-conference action on Saturday, March 1
st at 1:00 PM.
