Rosemont, PA (February 15)- The FDU-Florham Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Rosemont for its first non-conference contest of the season and saw through the snow for an 18-6 win over the Ravens. Head Coach
Alex Stone, also earned his first win as a Devils Head Coach.
FDU-Florham (1-0) produced a show as seven different Devils scored, but it was
Brenden Fabin (Randolph, NJ) who led the team in game one as he accumulated six goals on 19 shots and 2 assists. Also on the offensive attack was
Justin Perillo (Jackson, NJ) who collected 5 goals and 1 assist of his own.
Rosemont (0-1) had Greg Wever lead the Ravens up against the Devils as he netted 3 goals for 3 shots on goal.
It wasn't long before the first goal of the season was scored, but it was the home team who scored against the Devils first. Perillo started the rhythm for FDU with five minutes remaining as he evened the score. Another goal from Perillo just moments later gave the Devils the lead, but it was stopped shortly after the Ravens ended the quarter at 2 goals per team.
The heat was rising in the second quarter as six balls were introduced to the back of the net before Rosemont could introduce their third goal of the game. Fabin was able to notch the final goal of the half with 38 seconds remaining and gave the Devils a 5-goal lead, 9-4.
FDU-Florham continued the offensive attack well into the third quarter as the score climbed to 14-4 with the help of
Bud Snyder (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and
Christopher Scheublin (Tappan, N.Y). Rosemont made improvements to be able to record another goal but fell further behind as the quarter ended with a 16-5 score.
Rosemont was able to fling the ball past the FDU goalie for their final goal in the game, while
Jarrett Dugenio (Bridgewater, NJ) and
Anthony DiGiacomo (Paramus, NJ) added the final two goals for the Devils, securing the 18-6 win in the first game of the season.
In the cage, taking the fire of the shots for the Devils was
Anthony Pieroni (Branchburg, NJ) who claimed his first win with FDU on 4 saves. Andrew Menold of Rosemont was seen making 24 saves on the day.
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 66 shots, 22 ground balls and won 17 face-offs. Rosemont as a team, generated 13 shots, 19 ground balls, and won 7 face-offs.
FDU-Florham will have their home opener on Saturday, February 22 against Albright for 2 pm non-conference action.
