COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Despite a strong second half showing from the Devils, the FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to Ursinus College 93-77 on the road.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
- Gino Romano led all FDU scorers with 18 points on 6-of-9 from the field and 5-of-7 beyond the arc.
- Mac Creek tallied 14 points and a season-high nine assists
- Chris Smith also finished with 14 points and added nine rebounds.
- Frankie Denvir rounded the double-digit scorers with 12
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Denvir led off the game with a trey to put the Devils ahead 3-0 but that would be FDU's only lead of the half.
- The Bears took a 26-10 lead with 11:23 remaining and only tacked on as the half continued with lead ballooning to 31 points, 52-21 by the half's end.
- The Devils offense came to life in the second half as FDU outscored Ursinus 56-41.
- With 6:31 left in regulation, FDU cut the lead to below 30 for the first time since the 39 second mark in the first half Creek knocked down a triple to make it 85-56.
- Romano had the hot hand at the end of the half as the sophomore guard knocked down three triples, but the FDU comeback ran out of time as the Devils fell 93-77.
GAME NOTES
- Romano's 18 points and five threes were both new career highs.
- Smith has now tallied double figure points in all eight games for the Devils this season.
- This was Denvir's fourth consecutive game with double digit points.
- This was the second time this season the Devils have allowed 93 or more points this season.
