Football Downed by Misericordia at Home

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham football team fell to Misericordia 35-16 Saturday afternoon at home dropping to 0-8 on the season. 

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Quarterback Matthew Yascko threw for career-highs in pass completions (24), pass attempts (46), and yards (287). 
  • Running back Ethan Yak logged career-highs in rushes with nine and rushing yards with 29. His 10-yard run was also the longest of his career. 
  • Terry Andrike Jr. led the Devils in receiving yards with 102 and seven receptions. 
  • Patrick LePoidevin and Brian Dunleavy each reigned in touchdowns for the Devils. 
  • Anthony Collier led the defense in tackles with 11, eight solo and three assisted. 
  • Matt Heineman tallied seven tackles including one sack. 
  • Ginika Ozurumba and Adekunle Shittu each recorded a sack. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It took almost 10:00 into the first quarter for the first points to be added to the board as Misericordia's Hunter Jacob connected with receiver Anthony Rucci for 19-yard touchdown and put the Cougars ahead 7-0 after the PAT. 
  • After an FDU fumble at its own 38-yard line and recovery by the Cougars, Misericordia scored on its ensuing drive to double its score with 3:19 remaining. 
  • The Cougars began the second quarter the same way they ended the first as Misericordia scored its third TD of the afternoon on a one-yard rush from Kasiah Poole to make it a 21-0 game. 
  • The Devils then used an almost 4:30 drive for a field goal to cut the deficit to 21-3 with 7:18 remaining before the break. 
  • With 1:46 remaining the Cougars scored their fourth TD of the contest and headed into the locker room. 
  • Yascko opened the third quarter with a 40-yard completion to Dunleavy to put the Devils at the Misericordia 35-yard line and a Devils first down. Seven plays later, LePoidevin caught a short pass from Yascko to make it a 28-10 game. 
  • In the fourth, the Devils once again scored on their opening drive as Dunleavy caught a short pass through the back of the endzone for the second FDU touchdown of the game to cut the deficit once again to 28-16. 
  • The Cougars put the game on ice with 5:26 to go as Misercordia scored its fifth TD of the afternoon to down the Devils 35-16. 
GAME NOTES
  • Heineman is now 2.0 sacks away from breaking the all-time sack record. 
  • Yascko's 287-passing yards were the second most in a game this season. 
  • This was the fifth game this year the Devils tallied exactly two passing touchdowns in a game. 
UP NEXT
The Devils continue to look for their first win of 2025 as FDU heads to St. Davids, Pa. for a bout with Eastern University. Kick-off is set for noon.
