Maguire's Hat Trick Leads Men's Soccer in Comeback Win Over Misericordia

MADISON, N.J. – Senior midfielder Ryan Maguire recorded his first career hat trick Saturday afternoon as the FDU-Florham men's soccer team defeated Misericordia 6-5 in a come-from-behind win at home.

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Maguire tallied four shots on goal with three finding the back of the net.
  • Diego Trujillo tallied nine shots with one goal and one assist.
  • Genti Dauti netted one goal and tallied two assists.
  • Piotr Widerynski tallied one assist.
  • Goalkeeper Victor Ciach made seven saves on 12 attempts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars began the afternoon's high-scoring affair as Misericordia's Shane Macko found the back of the FDU net on a double assist from Noah Romig and Max Jameison in the 21'. In the 33', the Cougars extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Romig but the Devils got on the board off a Misericordia own goal in the 34'.
  • After entering the break down by one goal, the Cougars took a 3-1 lead in the 51', but the Devils answered back with four straight goals to take a 5-3 lead in the 60' after a Maguire goal on an assist from Dauti.
  • The Cougars made it a one-goal match in the 69' with another goal from Romig, but Maguire, on a perfectly executed cross from Widerynski, promptly found the back of the Cougars' net with a tap from the left foot to put the game on ice for the Devils.
  • Misericordia made it interesting in the end with its fifth goal of the match, but the Devils defense held strong to come away with their second straight win.
GAME NOTES
  • Saturday's win extended FDU's unbeaten streak to six straight matches without a loss.
