Madison, NJ (January 25) - The FDU Men's Basketball team was edged out by Stevens, falling 90-67 to the Ducks.
The Devils were led by Noah Pagan (Ringwood, NJ) with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Following Pagan was Christopher Smith (Florham Park, NJ) with 13 points and Jaqwan Washington (Bryan, TX) with 10.
Stevens opened the first half of gameplay with a 10-4 scoring run against the Devils. The Ducks' early advantage kept them at a distance, but the Devils worked to gain offensive possession. Stevens had a 10-point lead over FDU, 16-6, at the 14:25 time stamp. Devils' baskets from Smith, Carson Woods (Phoenix, AZ.), and James Zingaro (Stratford, NJ) lifted the FDU score but it was not enough to take the lead from Stevens. With a 20-point Ducks' lead, 45-25, at the 5:11 minute mark, the Devils worked to close the gap. FDU cut the deficit to 11 points with baskets from Amir Williams (Bronx, NY), Gino Romano (Roseland, NJ), and Pagan, but the Ducks remained in the lead, finishing the first half with a score of 47-36.
In the second half, Stevens maintained offensive possession, opening with another 10-4 run over FDU. The Ducks continuously got shots up and climbed to a 15-point lead, 60-45, with 14:34 on the clock. FDU baskets from Washington, Francis Denvir (Holland Township, N.J.), Smith, and Pagan kept the Devils from growing the deficit further and brought the score to 68-53 at the 8:32 time stamp. While FDU was trying to keep up, Stevens slowly grew the distance and was up 22 points, 80-58, at the 4:34 minute mark. The Devils made an effort to top Stevens, but the Ducks finished with a 90-67 win over the Devils.
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 36.6 percent (26-71) from the floor, 20 percent (3-15) from three-point range, and 80 percent (12-15) from the free throw line. They totaled 44 points in the paint, 34 off the bench, and 8 off turnovers.
Stevens shot 46.8 percent (29-62) from the floor, 45.5 percent (15-33) from three-point range, and 73.9 percent (17-23) from the free throw line. They totaled 28 points in the paint, 13 off the bench, and 20 off turnovers.
FDU-Florham will travel to play Arcadia on Wednesday, January 29th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
