Women's Basketball Beaten By Lebanon Valley, 74-50

Annville, PA (January 22) FDU-Florham Women's Basketball traveled to Lebanon Valley. Unfortunately, they were beaten by a score of 74-50.

FDU-Florham (5-11, 2-3 MAC Freedom) was led by Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ), who scored 14 points. Lynch also managed to secure two rebounds, a steal, and a block.
 
Lebanon Valley's (11-5, 4-1 MAC Freedom) best player on the court was Brielle Reidinger, who scored 21 points.

The first quarter started with four straight points from the Flying Dutchmen before Lynch scored on a driving layup for the Devil's first points of the game. FDU responded immediately after a Lebanon Valley score with a pull-up jumper from Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ). The Flying Dutchmen scored another four points before Lynch hit on another driving layup. Lebanon Valley hit a three-pointer, but Centeno responded with another pull up jumper to cut Lebanon Valley's lead to five. The Flying Dutchmen took over the rest of the quarter however, going on a 7-3 run to close it, with only Kristen Mellon (Southampton, NJ) hitting a free throw and Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ) hitting a buzzer-beater on a pull-up jumper. At the end of ten minutes played, Lebanon Valley held an eight-point lead, with the score being 19-11.

The second quarter was started with points from both sides, with the first 16 of them being split 8-8, with the Devils points coming from Lynch, Julia Vazquez (Branch Brook, NJ), and Bianca Sode (Kenilworth, NJ). FDU's first three-pointer of the day came courtesy of Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ), who cut Lebanon Valley's lead to seven points. The Flying Dutchmen shot back-to-back three-pointers, but Vazquez responded with a three of her own, as well as a jumper to bring the deficit down to eight once again. After four points from Lebanon Valley, Centeno hit a jump shot. Lebanon Valley went on a 7-2 scoring run to close out the half, with Sode hitting a jumper for the Devils lone points. Going into the half, the Devils trailed the Flying Dutchmen by 13, with the score being 44-31.

Lebanon Valley started the third quarter with six straight points before Sode hit a jumper. The Flying Dutchmen hit a layup before FDU went on an eight-point scoring run, with Vazquez and Lynch both contributing to it the rest of the quarter saw traded points from both sides, with the points from FDU coming from two jumpers from Vazquez. With ten minutes left to play, Lebanon Valley led by 12, with the score being 57-45.

Lebanon Valley hit a three-pointer to start the third quarter before Centeno responded with a jumper. The rest of the quarter was all the Flying Dutchmen, as they outscored the Devils by a score of 14-3, with Mellon and Sode making the buckets for the Devils. At the end of the game, Lebanon Valley went on to beat FDU by a score of 74-50.

FDU-Florham shot 32.8% (21-64) from the floor, 22.2% (2-9) from three-point range, and 60.0% (6-10) from the free throw line, while Lebanon Valley shot 44.4% (32-72) from the floor, 25.0% (6-24) from three-point range and 36.4% (4-11) from the free throw line.

Lebanon Valley won every statistical category, scoring more off turnovers (17-3), second chance points (18-6), bench points (11-4), points in the paint (38-14), and fast break points (4-3).

The Devils will return to Roger Kindel Court on January 25th to take on Stevens. Tip-Off will be at 1:00 PM.
