Dallas, PAÂ (January 18) FDU-Florham Women's Basketball traveled to Misericordia, and came away with the victory, as they tamed the Cougars by a score of 66-51.
FDU-Florham (5-10, 2-2 MAC Freedom) was led by
Bianca Sode (Kenilworth, NJ), who scored 19 points. Sode also managed to secure two blocks and seven rebounds.

Misericordia's (3-13, 1-3 MAC Freedom) best player on the court was Morgan Janeski, who scored 17 points.
The first points of the game for the Devils came from
Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ), as she hit a jumper for FDU to take the lead, 2-1. The Cougars responded, scoring the next four points in a row before Sode hit a jump shot to cut the lead to one. Misericordia scored the next six points before a Sode free throw was made. FDU closed the first quarter out strong, outscoring the Cougars 4-2 as Lynch and
Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ) made jump shots for the final points of the quarter. After the first ten minutes, Misericordia only led by 12-9.
The second quarter started with a layup from the Cougars, but FDU responded, scoring back-to-back jump shots to cut the lead to one, with Lynch and
Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ) being the ones to do damage. After a Misericordia jump shot, FDU took the lead back off two free throws from Lynch and a layup from
Kristen Mellon (Southampton, NJ), by a score of 17-16. A made Centeno three extended that lead to four. Misericordia took back the lead on a jumper and a three-pointer. Still, FDU roared back, scoring the last eight points of the half from a pair of two-pointers by Centeno and Tighe, two free throws by
Julia Vazquez (Bound Brook, NJ), and a made jump shot with one second left by
Destiny Knight (Philadelphia, P.A.). At the end of the first half, FDU held a seven-point lead, by a score of 28-21.
The third quarter started all Cougars, as they scored the first eight of nine points to tie the game at 29. Lynch stopped the Cougars run on a made layup and a free throw to regain the Devils lead at three points. Sode quickly hit a jumper to extend it to five. After a Cougars free throw, the Devils further expanded their lead to six with a Lynch jump shot. The Cougars made one more free throw before Sode went on absolute fire, scoring nine straight points. A pair of Vazquez free throws closed a 16-2 scoring run for the Devils, as they held a commanding 16-point lead. Misericordia hit a layup to close the quarter, but the quarter was won by FDU, as they led 47-33 going into the last ten minutes of the game.
Sode scored the first points of the fourth quarter on a jumper before Misericordia scored seven straight points. Centeno hit a three-pointer to stop their scoring run, but the Cougars responded with a three of their own, plus a layup to cut the lead down to seven. A Centeno layup was equaled by one of Misericordia's, but FDU slammed the door on them by scoring the next seven points, on free throws from Vazquez, a layup, and a free throw from Lynch, and a made jumper from Sode. Misericordia hit two layups to cut the lead to 10 before Centeno hit a three-pointer and a deep two to score the last points of the game. FDU came away with the victory against the Cougars, 66-51.
FDU-Florham shot 38.5% (25-65) from the floor, 23.1% (3-13) from three-point range, and 72.2% (13-18) from the free throw line, while Misericordia shot 32.3% (21-65) from the floor, 13.0% (3-23) from three-point range and 50.0% (6-12) from the free throw line.
FDU scored more points off turnovers (17-9) and more second chance points (13-8), while Misericordia scored more bench points (6-4), more points in the paint (34-20), and more fast break points (7-4).
The Devils will return to Roger Kindel Court on January 22
nd to take on Lebanon Valley. Tip-Off will be at 6:00 PM.
