Men’s Basketball Couldn’t Clinch the Win Against DeSales, 89-63

Center Valley, PA (January 11) - The FDU Men's Basketball team falls to DeSales during their second conference game of the season, 89-63.  

The Devils were led by Noah Pagan (Ringwood, NJ) who scored 15 points and tallied 4 rebounds. Following Pagan was Jaqwan Washington (Bryan, TX) earning 12 points and Adam Ziegler (West Grove, PA) with 10 points and 4 rebounds.  

The DeSales Bulldogs opened the first half with an 11-2 run over the Devils within the first 5 minutes of game play. The Devils were down 23-4 at the 11:58 timestamp until 2 made layups by Pagan stopped the FDU scoring drought. Devils baskets from James Zingaro (Stratford, NJ), Ziegler, Washington, and Christopher Smith (Florham Park, NJ) brought the score to 35-16 with 7:13 minutes remaining on the clock. The Bulldogs were able to maintain a steady 20-point lead over the Devils, ending the first half with a score of 51-29. 

During the second half, the Devils and Bulldogs each opened by scoring 3-pointers back to back, with FDU's coming from Mac Creek (Louisville, KY.). The Devils worked to close the gap but were still down 65-36 at the 14:23 minute mark. Devils baskets from Ziegler, Pagan, and Ryan Merz (Buffalo, NY) brought the score to 72–46 with 10:45 left of gameplay. FDU continued to fight for possession, but DeSales was able to maintain their offensive advantage. With 5:14 on the clock, Ziegler, Washington, and Pagan went to the rim for the Devils but the score remained a distant 87-61. The Devils put in the effort and fought until the end, but the Bulldogs secured the 89-63 victory.  

As a team, FDU-Florham shot 38.9 percent (21-54) from the floor, 27.8 percent (5-18) from three-point range, and 66.7 percent (16-24) from the free throw line. They totaled 26 points in the paint, 35 off the bench, and 12 off turnovers. 

DeSales shot 50 percent (32-64) from the floor, 36.7 percent (11-30) from three-point range, and 73.7 percent (14-19) from the free throw line. They totaled 42 points in the paint, 25 off the bench, and 18 off turnovers. 

FDU-Florham will continue on the road as they face off against Delaware Valley on Wednesday, January 15th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
