Men's Soccer Spins Up Centenary, 3-1

Madison, NJ (September 28) – The FDU-Florham Men's Soccer team spun up Centenary 3-1. Genti Dauti, Ferid Zaku, and Piotr Widerynski all scored goals for the Devils.

Records: FDU-Florham (8-1-1); Centenary (NJ) (3-7-1)
Location: Hackettstown, NJ: J.E. Reeves Jr. Turf Field        FDU Goal Scorers: Genti Dauti (2), Ferid Zaku (1), Piotr Widerynski (2)

The Devils got a couple early chances, but it was actually the Cyclones who got on the scoreboard first. At 9:12, a Centenary player crossed it into the box where another one stopped it and shot it into the net to give Centenary the 1-0 lead.

FDU remained composed however, and responded less than ten minutes later at 18:05, when Genti Dauti (Lincoln Park, NJ) was fouled on the edge of the box, and then drilled a free kick into the top right corner of the net to equalize the score.

At 23:29, FDU gave up a penalty, but Victor Ciach (Ringwood,NJ), who had just come into the game, managed to save it, and kept the scoreline even.

The Devils took that momentum and ran with as at 24:21, FDU received a corner kick. Dauti kicked it across the box, where the head of Ferid Zaku (Wayne, NJ) connected it past the goalkeeper for his first goal as a Devil and to give FDU the 2-1 advantage. The score remained that way at the end of the half.

The Devils continued putting pressure on the Cyclones, and at 61:19, Jonathan Shirley (Lincoln Park, NJ) received the ball in the box, and crossed it to Piotr Widerynski (Ringwood, NJ) who slotted past the keeper to extend the Devils lead to 3-1. When the clocks hit zero, the score remained the same, and FDU defeated Centenary 3-1 at the end of the game.

Anthony Petrucci (West Orange, NJ) earned one save before Ciach came on for him and saved two more. The Devils outshot the Cyclones, both in total (16-7) and on goal (10-4). They also lead in corner kicks (8-5) and were the more physical team, earning more fouls (14-8).

The Devils will continue their road trip, taking on Neumann in Aston, Pa. on October 2nd at 7:00 PM.
