The first quarter of the match was scoreless until FDU senior defender, Morgan Keller (Toms River, NJ), was able to land a shot from the top of the circle to the back of the cage at the 11:47 minute mark. The score remained 1-0 for the remainder of the first and second quarters, with FDU fighting to keep the lead and Neumann trying to even the score.

After the half, with less than three minutes remaining on the clock in the third quarter, Neumann successfully maneuvered the ball into the cage after taking their sixth penalty corner of the match evening the score to 1-1.

At the top of the fourth quarter, the Devils took every chance they had to make an offensive play that would get them in the lead once again. At the 46:42 timestamp, the Devils were awarded a penalty corner and were able to retake the lead as Abigail Antipas (Catasauqua, PA) shot the ball into the cage off a give-and-go assisted by Keller. The Knights did not let the 2-1 score last, as they executed another successful penalty corner evening the score to 2-2 and forcing game play into a 10-minute overtime.

The match went into double overtime as there were no additional goals within the 10 minutes of extra game play. FDU led the first overtime in shooting 4-1 as well as penalty corners 2-1, yet no opportunities were converted at that time. With less than five minutes on the clock of the second overtime, Sophia Candeloro (Sparta, NJ) took the Devils to victory with a shot into the cage coming off a penalty corner assisted by Keller.
