Factoryville, PA (September 21) – In their fourth tri-match of the 2024 season, The FDU-Florham Volleyball team traveled to face Keystone (10-2, 0-0 United East) and fellow visitor Purchase (1-6, 0-0 Skyline) in non-conference action and saw a 3-0 victory over the Panthers in the Devils first match of the day, but fell to the host Giants by a 3-0 set match.

In the Devils' only match win of the day
, Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif.) was seen on the offensive attack for 11 kills and 1 service ace, while first-year
Tayla O'Connor (Roxbury, NJ) added 11 kills of her own as well as 11 digs and 1 block.
Set 1: FDU-Florham was off to an offensive start for claiming the first points of the match, but for also pushing past a 6-6 tie to go on a 9-1 run to pull ahead, 15-7. The Devils were lead with a team effort to help close out the first set by a score of 25-13.
Set 2: Purchase wanted to start the second set out on a positive note for their team by capitalizing on a Devil attack error but slipped as FDU went on another 9-1 lead. The Cougars tried to claw their way back into the set but were not allowed as the Devils' offense and defense worked together to jump to a 25-8 set score.
Set 3: In the third set, both teams put up more of a fight as the score was seen tied six times before the Devils capitalized on a service error and a kill by
Vanessa Freeman (Wayne, NJ) sparked the momentum to go on a 8-3 run. FDU-Florham kept finding offensive opportunities to help record the kill and the point, resulting in a 25-14 final set score and a 3-0 overall match score for the Devils.
Vs. Keystone
The second match of the day held 13 kills for
Kiara Salme (Lyndhurst, NJ), as well as 2 assists and 1 service ace.
Amaya Ocasio (Secaucus, NJ) did her job under the ball as she recorded 17 assists in the three sets against Keystone.
Set 1: The First set between the Devils and Giants was a back-and-forth game, as each team would remain within one or two points distance of the other, and read 9-9 after a kill by
Mackenzie Crandall (Shrewsbury, Mass.) tied the score. After a spurt of offensive momentum, Keystone was able to pull away from FDU on a 12-4 run and eventually closed the set on a 25-17 score.
Set 2: Carrying the offensive momentum into the second set, Keystone started with a 6-1 run. FDU-Florham contained their composer and was able to score to bring them within on point, early within the set, 8-7. The score kept climbing for the Giants but the Devils gave one last effort and had the score within one point again, 13-12, but did not contain the Giants as they pulled away for another 25-17 set score.
Set 3: Keystone wanted to wrap the match up early so they took the early lead once again but did not realize that the heat was rising on FDU's side of the court as they found the set tied 15-15 apiece. The third set was seen tied 3 times before a Keystone attack error brought the Devils win one point again. Unfortunately, the Giants found the offensive spurt they needed to help close out the set on a 25-21 score and a 3-0 overall match score.
FDU-Florham will see its first Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest of the season at Delaware Valley on Wednesday, September 25. The first serve is set for 7:00 PM.
