Men's Soccer Shuts Out Valley Forge, 4-0

Madison, NJ (September 17) – The FDU-Florham Men's Soccer team shut out Valley Forge 4-0. Drilon Toska scored two goals, and Christian Adame and Johnny Gurrieri scored once.

Records: FDU-Florham (6-1-0); Valley Forge (2-5-0)
Location: Madison, NJ (Robert T. Shields Field)
FDU Goal Scorers: Drilon Toska (9), Christian Adame (4), Johnny Gurrieri (1)

The scoring started immediately for the Devils, when only 5:49 into the game, Jack Montanile (Toms River, NJ) got a ball directly to the right of the net, where he then passed it directly to Drilon Toska (Lincoln Park, NJ) who tapped it into the net to give FDU the early 1-0 lead and give Montanile the lead in the MAC for assists.

The Devils extended their lead over the Patriots when at 22:23, Farid Zaku (Wayne, NJ) passed a ball over all of the defenders and connected with Christian Adame (Passaic, NJ) who jumped and headed the ball past the keeper to extend the Devils lead to 2-0.

Not long after, at 33:08, Ryan Maguire (Toms River, NJ) tied Montanile for the lead in assists for the MAC by doing the same thing he did, passing the ball to Toska, who once again put it in the net to further extend his lead for goals in the MAC. After these shots were taken, but the game remained the same score once half time arrived.

The score remained the same up until the last five minutes, when after a Valley Forge defender headed the ball away, Johnny Gurrieri (Wanaque, NJ) unleashed a strike into the top corner for his first collegiate goal and to further the Devils lead 4-0. The score would remain the same as the clock struck zero, meaning the Devils shut out the Patriots 4-0.

Anthony Petrucci (West Orange, NJ) had a pretty easy night in the net, as he only got one save in his third straight shutout in net. The Devils dominated in overall shots (44-1) and shots on goal (17-1). They also dominated on corner kicks (11-0) and had slightly more fouls than Valley Forge (8-6).

The Devils will travel to Langhorne, Pennsylvania as they take the Highlanders of Cairn University on September 21st, at 7:00 PM.
