Annville, Pa. (April 7) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis team opened up MAC Freedom play on Sunday afternoon and fell to nationally ranked #49 Lebanon Valley, 9-0.
Lebanon Valley got a clean sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson in the doubles portion of the match, taking each match 8-0. The duo of
Rachel Kappelmier (Freehold, N.J.) and
Maggie Cronkhite (Deep River, Conn.) were beaten by Nicole Honrade and Jaquelyn McBride in Doubles #1.
Ashley Gaetani (Ridgefield Park, N.J) and
Paula Vanegas (Union City, N.J.) were bested by Sarah McComas and Sarah Kramer in Doubles #2 and the tag team of
Emily Prachthauser (Morristown, N.J.) and
Giavana Caraccioli (Bound Brook, N.J.) were taken down by Jenna Miner and Eilana Shenk.
Lebanon Valley was able to continue their dominance in singles and complete the 9-0 sweep. In Singles #1, Kappelmier was blanked by Honrade, 6-0, 6-0. Cronkhite fell in Singles #2 to McBride, 6-0, 6-0 while Gaetani dropped Singles #3 to McComas, 6-4, 6-0. In Singles #4, Vanegas was defeated by Kramer, 6-1, 6-1. Prachthauser fell to Shenk in Singles #5, 6-0, 6-0 and Caraccioli suffered a loss to Megan Martin, 6-0, 6-0.
FDU-Florham continues with MAC Freedom play on Wednesday, April 10 when they host DeSales for a 3:30 pm start.
