Annville, Pa. (April 7)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team was downed in their MAC Freedom conference opener at Lebanon Valley, 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Lebanon Valley took a 3-0 lead in the match after the doubles matches.
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J.) with
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) were bested by Jesse Beck and Adam Warren, 8-4 in Doubles #1. In Doubles #2, Michael Schuetz and Ethan Luu defeated
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, Pa.), 8-6. In Doubles #3,
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) with
Arman Ali (Lodi, N.J.) were blanked by Colin Brusse and Jack Erb, 8-0.
The Flying Dutchmen kept their game up in singles and eventually completed a clean sweep of the Devils, 9-0. Both Emery and Duval put up good fights in Singles #1 and Singles #2 as they both went into a third set, but Beck held off Emery (6-0, 4-6, 6-2) and Warren pushed past Duval (6-4, 4-6, 6-2). In Singles #3, Liwag fell to Erb (6-3, 6-2), Schwartz was beaten in Singles #4 to Scheutz (7-6, 6-1), Andressen was bested by Brusse in Singles #5 (6-0, 6-2) and Ali fell to Luu in Singles #6 (6-0, 6-2).
FDU-Florham continues with MAC Freedom play on Tuesday, April 9 when they host DeSales for a 3:30 pm start.
