Mahwah, N.J. (April 29) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis team fell on the road in non-conference action to Ramapo, 8-1.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 3-0 after doubles. In Doubles #1, Cronkhite and Gaetani were bested by Melanie Brentnall and Mackenzie Dates, 8-1.
Paula Vanegas (Union City, N.J.) and
Rachel Kappelmier (Freehold, N.J.) fell just short in Doubles #2 to Nicole Graham and Kassie Britt. In Doubles #3,
Giavana Caraccioli (Bound Brook, N.J.) and
Melanie Perez (Union City, N.J.) were defeated by Winner Anna Bysiek and Katie Obssuth, 8-1.
Arcadia took all but one singles match to complete an 8-1 victory. Brentall took Singles #1 after a 5-2 set one win and a retirement by Kappelmier. In Singles #2, Cronkhite fought hard but fell, 7-5, 6-3 against Dates. Gaetani was the lone winner for the Devils with a Singles #3 triumph against Graham, 6-3 and 7-6 with a 4-0 tiebreaker win. Vanegas fell to Britt, 6-3, 6-3 in Singles #4.
Emily Prachthauser (Morristown, N.J.) was blanked in Singles #5 by Bysiek, 6-0, 6-0. Carraccioli closed out the match in Singles #6 with a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Justine Gardella, in Singles #6.
FDU-Florham will close out the 2023-24 campaign on Wednesday, May 1 as they host Kean for their season-finale.
