Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season with 6-3 Win at Ramapo

Mahwah, N.J. (April 29)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis wrapped up their regular season contests with a 6-3 win at Ramapo.
 
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after doubles. In Doubles #1, Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) and Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J) handled Alejandro Pacheco and Bobby Ciarletta, 8-2. Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, Pa.) fell just short in Doubles #2 against Nate Cooper and Roshan George, 8-6 and Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and Arman Ali who were blanked by James Jackson and Julian Baretto, 8-0.
 
FDU took five of six singles matches to seal the non-conference win. In Singles #1, Emery was victorious with a 7-5, 6-1 win against Pacheco. In Singles, #2, Duval bested Ciarletta, 6-2, 6-1. Liwag went into a three-set game against Cooper during Singles #3. The two exchanged 6-4 wins before Liwag came out on top with a 10-5 third set win. Schwartz and Andresen also saw three-set victories on the evening. Schwartz went down, 6-1 in Singles #4 to George before he battled back for wins of 6-4 and 10-5. A 7-5 win in the first set of Singles #5 gave Andresen the edge over Jackson. Jackson took set two, 6-3 before Andresen closed out the set with a dominating 10-1 set three. Ali was the only singles loss in Singles #6 with a 6-0, 6-1 loss against Baretto.
 
FDU-Florham will compete next in the MAC Freedom Tournament at top-seeded Stevens on Wednesday, May 1 at 3:30pm.
