Weehawken, N.J. (May 1)- The fourth-seeded FDU-Florham men's tennis team was upended in the MAC Freedom semifinals to the top-seeded and defending champions Stevens, 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Ducks jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the doubles portion of the match In Doubles #1,
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J) were bested by Vivek Harinarayan and Olof Persson, 8-1.
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, Pa.) fell in Doubles #2 against Max-William Kanz and Samvid Andhare, 8-1 and
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Arman Ali were blanked by Andrew He and Johnny Haase, 8-0 in Doubles #3.
Per the MAC Championship rules, the full contest only plays until the match-clinching victory is had. With Andresen being swept by Olof Persson, 6-0, 6-0 and Ali being blanked by Johnny Haase, 6-0, 6-0, the match was ended with the rest of the singles matches becoming unfinished.
With the loss, men's tennis wrapped up the 2023-24 season.
