Madison, N.J. (April 26)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team hosted their final home match of the season and fell just short against Brooklyn College, 5-4 on Friday afternoon.
The Devils fell behind the Bulldogs, 2-1 after the doubles portion of the match.
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J.) fought hard but were beaten 8-6 by Ryan Sham and Craig Pazarecki in Doubles #1.
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, Pa.) took down Ryan Badre-Hume and Mujibur Shaad, 8-1 in Doubles #2.
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Arman Ali were upended in Doubles #3 by Mordecai Lev and Allen Mardakhayev.
In singles play, the Bulldogs did just enough to get the job done and leave with a 5-4 win. Emery was best in Singles #1, 6-0, 6-1. Duval went into a three-set match with Pazarecki in Singles #2. He lost 7-6 in set two with a 7-1 loss in the first set tiebreaker. He bounced back with a 7-5 set two victory and won the match in set three, 10-6. Liwag also went into a three-set match in Singles #3 where he faced off with Badre-Hume. He won 6-1 in set one but fell in set two, 6-4. He ultimately took the match, 10-1 in set three. Schwartz took care of business in Singles #4 against Shaad, 6-4, 6-1. Andresen squared off with Lev in Singles #5 for a three-set match. He won set one, 4-3, but fell in set two, 6-1. He was ultimately defeated with a 5-2 set three loss and the match was closed out with a loss from Ali against Allen Mardakhayev, 6-0, 6-0.
FDU-Florham hits the road for an all-important MAC Freedom match with Arcadia on Saturday, April 27 for a 1:00pm start.
