Purchase, N.Y. (April 21)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team defeated in non-conference play at Manhattanville, 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Despite having some close matches, the Valiants took all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead.
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J.) went into a tiebreaker set with James Hourihan and Weston Goodwin but fell 7-5 for an 8-7 defeat in Doubles #1.
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, Pa.) were bested in Doubles #2 to Derwin Guzman and Carter Hunter-Crump, 8-5.
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Arman Ali were upended in Doubles #3 to Shiel Loganadan and Griffin Forberg, 8-1
In singles play, only Schwartz got a win for Fairleigh Dickinson in Singles #4 against Guzman. He won the first set 6-2 and won 7-6 with an 8-6 tiebreaker set victory. The rest of the matches were in favor of the Valiants who took the 8-1 win. In Singles #1, Hourihan was victorious against Emery, 6-1, 6-0. In Singles #2, Duval fell to Goodwin, 6-2, 6-4. Liwag was bested in Singles #3 against Forberg, 6-2, 6-0. Andresen was tripped up by Loganadan in Singles #5, 6-1, 6-0. Singles #6 ended with Hunter-Crump defeating Ali, 6-1, 6-1.
FDU-Florham hosts their final home match of the season on Friday, April 26 against Brooklyn College. The match is set to begin at 1:30pm.
