Madison, N.J. (April 20)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team was edged by King's (Pa.) in MAC Freedom play, 5-4 on Saturday afternoon. Before the match, the Devils honored their two seniors
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, Pa.) for Senior Day.
Fairleigh Dickinson had a 2-1 lead on King's after the doubles portion of the day. Emery and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J.) took care of Logan Gregory and John Toussaint, 8-4 in Doubles #1 while
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and Schwartz did the same with an 8-6 victory in Doubles #2 against Patrick Pech and Aidan Temple.
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Arman Ali fell in Doubles #3 to Brendan Turowski and Cody Zheng, 8-3
King's was able to flip the script on FDU and win four out of six singles matches to take the 5-4 win on the day. In Singles #1, Emery fell to Gregory, 6-3, 6-0. Duval had a thrilling match in Singles #2, losing set one, 7-5 but taking set two, 6-3. He ultimately fell however with a loss in set three, 6-4 to Toussaint. In Singles #3, Liwag's match also went to three sets. He won in set one, 7-5, but fell in set 6-3 and ultimately was defeated in set three, 6-4 to Pech. Schwartz and Andresen were both victorious in their singles matches. Schwartz won in Singles #4 against Temple, 6-1, 6-3 and Andresen was victorious, 6-4, 6-4 in Singles #5 against Turowski. Ali fell in Singles #6 to Zheng, 6-0, 6-0.
FDU-Florham sees a quick turnaround as they compete against Manhattanville tomorrow, April 21 for an 11:30am start.
