Men's Lacrosse Falls Short in MAC Freedom Contest at Delaware Valley, 11-8

Doylestown, PA (April 20)- The FDU-Florham Men's lacrosse team traveled to Delaware Valley for a MAC Freedom contest and fell just short of a win as they fell 11-8 to the Aggies.  

FDU-Florham (1-13, 0-5 MAC Freedom) received a performance of three goals on ten shots from senior Nicholas Perillo (Jackson, NJ), along with two goals from Ronnie Trisuzzi (Rockaway, NJ).  

Delaware Valley (5-10, 1-4 MAC Freedom) secured the win with four goals and one assist from Chris Marren.  
 
Halfway through the first 15 minutes of action, Delaware Valley was able to net their first goal of the game as well as their second goal at the 4:08 minute mark. Just a minute later, Justin Perillo (Jackson, NJ) collected a rebound of his own shot and was able to find Trisuzzi for the Devils' first goal.
 
FDU-Florham added their second goal of the game in the last three second of the first quarter, but were still behind the Aggies as the score read 3-2.
 
Delaware Valley started the second quarter of action by scoring three goals, but the Devils ended the Aggies' momentum with a goal from Jarrett Dugenio (Washington, NJ) at the 7:20-minute mark. Both teams were unable to connect in the final minutes, leaving the scoreboard to read 6-3 heading into halftime.
 
FDU-Florham attempted to close the scoring gap during the start of the third quarter, but slipped when Delaware Valley scored twice within a minute. Anthony Digiacomo (Paramus, NJ) helped capitalize on the Aggies' Man-down situation with the Devils' fourth goal of the game with 11:34 remaining, 8-4. Before time expired FDU-Florham was able to bring their scoring total to six goals, but Delaware Valley still was able to keep a scoring differential of three goals, 9-6.
 
The defense for either team showed at the beginning of the final quarter as the Devils scored the first of their final two goals in the eleventh minute. Delaware Valley kept its pace by adding its tenth goal before Luke Duagn (Washington, NJ) added the Devils' final goal of the game with 4:31 remaining. The Aggies added their eleventh and final goal in the final two minutes of action to ensure they scored the 11-8 MAC Freedom win.
 
FDU-Florham's goalie for the entire contest was Ben Weintraub (Clark, NJ) (0-8) as he was given the loss but not without collecting 12 saves. Jim Murphy of Delaware Valley was responsible for the win and 15 saves to go with it.  
 
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 44 shots, 33 ground balls and won 14 face offs. The Devils also finished 17-for-21 on clear attempts and 1-for-4 on extra-man opportunities.
 
Delaware Valley as a team, generated 35 shots, 25 ground balls, and won 8 face offs. The team was also 23-for-27 on clear attempts and 1-for-2 on extra-man opportunities.
 
The Devils will remain on the road as they will head to Lebanon Valley for a 7pm MAC Freedom contest on Wednesday, April 24.
