Box Score Madison, N.J. (April 14) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis team was downed in MAC Freedom play to visiting Misericordia, 6-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Misericordia got out to a 3-0 lead after doubles. In Doubles #1,
Maggie Cronkhite (Deep River, Conn.) and
Ashley Gaetani (Ridgefield Park, N.J) were bested by Hailey Loughlin and Lydia Barbour, 8-1.
Paula Vanegas (Union City, N.J.) and
Rachel Kappelmier (Morristown, N.J.) teamed up in Doubles #2 but were beaten by Erin Cridge and Isabella Aniska, 8-2. In Doubles #3,
Giavana Caraccioli (Bound Brook, N.J.) and
Melanie Perez (Union City, N.J.) were taken down by Teresa Thomas and Carissa Stefanski, 8-2.
The match was only able to get through the top three singles matches as Singles #4-#6 were ruled no contest due to weather conditions. In Singles #1, Brianna Pizzano defeated Kappelmier, 5-0 before Kappelmier retired the rest of the match. In Singles #2, Cronkhite was bested by Loughlin, 6-2, 6-1 and Gaetani was tripped up by Emily Brecker, 6-1, 6-0.
FDU-Florham will continue with MAC Freedom play on Tuesday, April 16 as the Devils host Stevens for a match starting at 4:00pm
