Hoboken, NJ (April 13)- In Saturday afternoon MAC Freedom action, the FDU-Florham Men's Lacrosse team stumbled into the Pond of the #14 Stevens Ducks for a 25-2 final score.
FDU-Florham (1-11, 0-3 MAC Freedom) had only one Devil score both its goals as junior
Ricky Lewis (Washington, NJ) also accounted for four shots and one ground ball.
Stevens (11-2, 3-0 MAC Freedom) had multiple players score but Brendan Laundry led the Ducks with three goals on five shots.
Stevens started out strong from the first eight seconds of the game as they were able to get the ball and score their first goal. FDU-Florham only found space for one shot in the first quarter, and it came from the stick of
Jarrett Dugenio (Bridgewater, NJ), as he was just wide. The Ducks added another 14 goals before the quarter expired, 15-0.
FDU-Florham's defense came to life in the second quarter as they held Stevens to five goals, 20-0. The Devils' offense awoke as well but was not able to capitalize on their nine shots for a goal before the game broke for halftime.
Defense in the third quarter came to life as the Devils held the Ducks to just three goals, but FDU-Florham still went another quarter without scoring a goal, 0-23.
In the final 15 minutes of MAC Freedom action between the Devils and Ducks, FDU-Florham saw their first goal being scored by
Lewis at the 11:51 minute mark, even on a man-down disadvantage.
The next goal of the game was owned again by
Lewis as this time he capitalized on Steven's man-down situation for the Devils' second goal of the game with 7:23 minutes remaining. Stevens closed the final quarter of play with another two goals of their own, ultimately handing FDU-Florham a 25-2 loss.
In goal for FDU-Florham was
Kenny Ferris (Fairfield, NJ) as he accounted for three saves but was given the deciding loss. For Stevens, Kevin Holtby recorded one save and captured the win.
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 15 shots, 21 ground balls and won 8 face offs. The Devils also finished 13-for-23 on clear attempts and 1-for-5 on extra-man opportunities.
Stevens as a team, generated 42 shots, 45 ground balls, and won 21 face offs. The team was also 17-for-18 on clear attempts and 2-for-4 on extra-man opportunities.
FDU-Florham will be hosting King's on Wednesday, April 17 at 6pm as their next MAC Freedom contest. The game will be played in support of The Hidden Opponent Awareness.
