Haverford, PA (March 6)- For Wednesday evening non-conference action, The FDU-Florham Men's Lacrosse team traveled to the Haverford Fords and dropped the contest by a score of 24-5.
FDU (0-4) was led by
Nicholas Perillo (Jackson, NJ) as he accounted for two goals on three shots on goal, while
Jarrett Dugenio (Bridgewater, NJ ) contributed a goal and an assist for two points.
Haverford (3-2) saw Reid Tietjen with five goals and three assists for eight total points.
A strong defensive end started the game for both teams as the game remained scoreless until Haverford was able to introduce the ball to the back of the net (11:29 timestamp) for their first of seven goals to come in the first quarter. FDU-Florham took aim six times but was not able to record any goals.
Another four minutes passed into the second quarter until a goal was scored, this time by FDU's
Aidan Bonn (Huntington, NY) for his first of the season and the Devils' first of the game.
Haverford was able to slide by the Devils' defense as they added another seven goals to their total and had the score reading 13-1. FDU-Florham netted their second goal of the game with a little over four minutes remaining in the half as
Dugenio was able to find
N. Perillo for the successful opportunity strategizing at the half.
With the heat fully on, FDU-Florham scored the first three goals of the third quarter, all being recorded within 30 seconds of each other.
Anthony DiGiacomo (Paramus, NJ) found his first goal of the game along with
Dugenio, as
N. Perillo recorded his second on the night. Despite starting the quarter early, Haverford worked up an additional five goals to keep a comfortable lead at the end of 45 minutes of play, 19-5.
Despite making a last-minute effort of six shots in the fourth quarter, Haverford was able to stop the Devils on defense and capitalize with offense to score and up the final total to 24 goal, resulting in a 24-5 win for Haverford over FDU-Florham.
In goal for the Devils was
Ben Weintraub (Clark, NJ) (0-4) as he generated 7 saves on 34 shots and was unfortunately given the loss. Haverford had many goalie changes but recording the win for the Fords was Jacob Abraham as he produced three saves.
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 32 shots, 0 shots on goal, 35 ground balls and won 12 face-offs. The Devils also finished 14-for-21 on clear attempts and 0-for-2 on extra-man opportunities.
Haverford as a team, generated 59 shots, 0 shots on goal, 50 ground balls, and won 21 face-offs. The team was also 21-for-23 on clear attempts and 1-for-2 on extra-man opportunities.
FDU-Florham will host Immaculate on Wednesday, March 13 at 4pm for their home opener and next non-conference contest.
