Scranton, Pa. (March 26)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team was tripped up on the road during their non-conference match against Scranton, suffering a 9-0 defeat on Tuesday afternoon.
The Devils fell behind 3-0 after the doubles portion of the match.
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J.) with
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) were bested by Maxwell Dombrowski and Lucas Kotcho in Doubles #1, 8-4. The duo of
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, Pa.) fell just short against Steven Prosperino and Harrison Clark in Doubles #2, 8-7 and the tag team of
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) with
Arman Ali (Lodi, N.J.) were blanked by Nathan Harrison and Isaiah Dore in Doubles #3, 8-0.
Fairleigh Dickinson could not find a victory in singles and ultimately was swept by Scranton, 9-0. The closest match for FDU was the Singles #2 face off between Duval and Dore. Dore scored the set one win, 6-3 but Duval battled back to win set two, 7-6. Duval ultimately fell to Dore after a set three loss of 6-2. In Singles #1, Emery was defeated by Dombrowski, 6-2 and 6-0. In Singles #3, Liwag was bested by Clark, 6-3 and 6-4. During Singles #4, Schwartz fell to Kotcho, 6-0 and 6-3. The match was wrapped up after Andresen was beaten by Prosperino (6-1, 6-0) and Ali was defeated by Harrison (6-2, 6-0).
FDU-Florham plays their first MAC Freedom contest of the season next week as the Devils travel to take on Lebanon Valley on Saturday, April 6 for a 1:00pm start.
