Madison, NJ (March 27)- The FDU-Florham Men's Lacrosse team hosted Albertus Magnus for a non-conference contest on Robert T. Shields in support of breast cancer and will walk away with 21-7 victory for their first win of the season.
FDU-Florham (1-7) saw seven players with at least one goal scored. However, leading the Devils was
Jarrett Dugenio (Bridgewater, NJ) as he surpassed a season-high of five goals. Adding four goals of his own was senior
Nicholas Perillo (Jackson, NJ), who also accounted for one assist.
Albertus Magnus (2-6) put Cooper Strecker on the offensive attack as he accounted for three of Falcon's seven goals.
The Devils were ready to play as
Luke Dugan (Washington, NJ) was able to work his way through the defenders for the Devils' first goal of the game, in the first 30 seconds of play.
FDU-Florham held down the scoreboard on the defensive side as Albertus Magnus was scoreless in the first quarter of action. On the offensive side, the Devils were able to add another five goals before the end of the first 15 minutes of action.
Starting the second quarter of action was
Dugenio as he added his second goal of the non-conference contest, just 50 seconds into play. FDU-Florham was able to add another three goals before the Falcons added their first goal with 6:54 remaining in the half, 10-1.
Before the half expired, another goal was added to Albertus Magnus side of the scoreboard with 27 seconds remaining. FDU-Florham added another four goals before calling the half, including
Dugenio's third goal of the game in the last 3 seconds of play, 14-2.
The scoring drive was slowed in the third quarter, but
Bud Synder (Arlington Park, Ill.) started it with his first goal of the game after 5 minutes had passed. First-year
Anthony DiGiacomo (Paramus, NJ) added his first goal of the game at the 6:35 time stamp, leaving
Dugan to score the Devils final goal of the quarter with 1:47 remaining, 17-2.
Albertus Magnus found an offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter as they added their third goal of the game at the 13:46 timestamp. The Falcons proceeded to add four goals to close the goal differential but failed as the Devils added another four goals in the final quarter to help secure the 21-7 over the Falcons.
The Devils saw two goalies in the cage, but the win was awarded to
Kenny Ferris (Fairfield, NJ) who accounted for two saves in the non-conference contest. Albertus Magnus also saw two goalies receive playing time, but with seven saves, Dane Walsh was given the loss.
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 52 shots, 36 ground balls and won 20 face offs. The Devils also finished 15-for-19 on clear attempts and 0-for-2 on extra-man opportunities.
Albertus Magnus as a team, generated 30 shots, 32 ground balls, and won 11 face offs. The team was also 12-for-18 on clear attempts and 1-for-8 on extra-man opportunities.
FDU-Florham will be traveling to Farmingdale State for their next game on Saturday, March 30. The non-conference contest is scheduled to start at 3pm.
