Glassboro, N.J. (March 23)- A rain-filled Saturday afternoon cut almost all the events short for the FDU-Florham women's track and field during their season opener at the Oscar Moore Invitational at Rowan University, but sophomore
Maya Laterza (Whippany, N.J.) was able to get a chance to compete in her first collegiate meet and notched a MAC qualifier today as the lone representative during the Devils' outdoor season opener.
Laterza competed in the javelin throw event where she recorded a distance of 34.00m (111' 5.50") that crushed the MAC qualifying throw of 27.43m and broke the school record by that much as well. Her mark was the second best at the meet.
FDU-Florham will look to get a full meets worth of competition next weekend as they travel to Galloway, N.J. for the Osprey open hosted by Stockton for a two-day event starting on Friday, March 29.
