Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Suffers a 22-1 Loss against Kean

Union, NJ (February 28)- In Wednesday evening non-conference action, the FDU-Florham Men's lacrosse team suffered its second loss of the season as the Devils were not able to stop the offensive power of Kean University, and lost by a score of 22-1 after 47 minutes of regulation time.

FDU was led by Luke Dugan (Washington, NJ) as he scored the Devils lone goal of the night. However, Nicholas Perillo (Jackson, NJ) led the attack as he was seen with three shots, with two being on goal.

Kean (2-0) tallied many marks on the stats sheet as three players each with three goals. Cougar, Anthony Porter, led with four assists and two goals for six points.

The Devils found themselves winning the first faceoff of the contest and Aidan Bonn (Huntington, NY) was able to take the opportunity of a shot for FDU on their first position and 21 seconds into the first quarter.

Kean was able to put the first goal on the board and found themselves with another two goals by the 12:15 minute timestamp. The Cougars were able to keep the offensive momentum flowing and capitalize on FDU's turnovers, as the scoreboard read 11-0 after the first 15 minutes of play.

The Cougars kept their foot on the gas as they were still able to find scoring opportunities in the second quarter. However, the Devils found their footing on the turf and were able to produce shots from N. Perillo, Jarrett Dugenio ( Bridgewater, NJ), and Evan Myers (Vestal, NY). Even with the offense finding opportunities to score, FDU was not able to see the back of the net as the half ended with a score of 18-0.

At the 11:33 minute mark of the third quarter, FDU-Florham saw their first goal of the game as Dugan scored on the man-up for the Devils only shots on goal of the quarter. Kean was still able to find a way to net the ball as the score read 21-1 after 45 minutes of total play.

Kean was able to add their 22nd goal of the evening at the 14:22 minute mark and FDU was able to fling one shot at the Cougar's goalkeeper just a minute later. The game came to a halt with 13 minutes to play when a power outage across the campus and township of Union caused the game to be called and finished at the last recorded statistic. The book showed that Kean was ahead and claimed victory over the Devils by a score of 22-1.

As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 11 shots, 6 shots on goal, 14 ground balls and caused 2 turnovers. The Devils also finished the game 12-for-15 on clear attempts and 1-for-7 on extra-man opportunities.
