Bethlehem, Pa. (February 27)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team went on the road for their first dual match of the season and were defeated by Moravian, 8-1 on Monday evening.
In doubles play,
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J.) with
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) were narrowly defeated by Wyatt Marshall and Ronny Pimentel-Ferrer in doubles #1, 8-7 with the tiebreaker set going 7-3.
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, N.J.) secured the lone win for the Devils in doubles #2 against Matt Labosky and Zachary Lebby, 8-6 while
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) with
Arman Ali (Lodi, N.J.) suffering a doubles #3 loss to Garrett Morris and Steve Schneider, 8-4.
FDU was then swept in singles play to give the Greyhounds the 8-1 team win. Emery went to three-sets Shayaan Farhad, losing 7-5 in set one, winning in set two, 7-5 and dropping the tie breaker set, 10-7. Duval was bested by Marshall in singles #2 (6-0, 6-2), Liwag fell to Pimentel-Ferrer in singles #3 (6-2, 6-3), Schwartz dropped singles #4 to Gavin Labbadia (6-1, 6-0), Andresen was defeated in singles #5 to Ryan Burke (6-0, 6-2) and Ali suffered the singles #6 defeat against Labosky (6-0, 6-0).
FDU-Florham will now have almost a month to prepare for their next match which will be on Tuesday, March 19 at 4:00pm as the team travels for non-conference play against Scranton.
