Women's Basketball Edges Misericordia, 69-59

Dallas, PA (February 10) – For its final regular season away contest, The FDU-Florham Women's Basketball team will return to Madison with a 69-59 win over Misericordia in Saturday afternoon MAC Freedom action.

FDU-Florham (11-11, 4-8 MAC Freedom) was able to secure their eleventh win of the season thanks to a combined effort from Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ) and Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, NJ). Lynch led the Devils for the first time this season with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Aguilar was right next to her teammate with 21 points and 7 rebounds.
 
Misericordia (8-15, 2-10 MAC Freedom) had a double-double effort of 12 points and 11 rebounds from Skylar Bianchi.
 
Throughout the first four minutes of play, both teams traded baskets until Misericordia was able to find a 13-2 scoring run with 2:37 remaining, 19-9. The final points of the first quarter were scored by FDU-Florham as a layup from Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ) ignited the Devils and ended the quarter in a 5-point differential in favor of the Cougars, 19-14.
 
FDU-Florham continued to chip away at the score and was able to tie the game, 21-21, at the 6:37 timestamp after a layup from Lynch. The Devils had then claimed their first lead of the game after scoring seven straight unanswered points. Misericordia was able to score before the half expired and cut the Devils lead to seven points, 30-23.
 
Misericordia came out of the locker room at halftime ready to take the lead back as a three-pointer at the 5:51 minute mark pushed them within three points of the Devils, 35-32. However, the Devils turned up the heat and expanded their lead back to 14 points at the end of the third quarter, 53-39.
 
FDU-Florham was outscored 20-16 in the fourth quarter but kept their composure and continued to maintain a lead throughout. The Devils ultimately saw a ten-point win and gave Misericordia the 69-59 MAC Freedom loss.
 
FDU-Florham shot 43.1 percent (28-for-65) from the floor, 16.7 percent (2-for-12) from three-point range, and 84.6 percent (11-for-13) from the free throw line, while Misericordia shot 35.0-percent (21-for-60) from the floor, 31.6-percent (11-for-15) from three-point range and 73.3-percent (11-for-15) from the free throw line.


FDU-Florham was able to score 34 points in the paint, 9 points of the fast break, and 12 points off of Misericordia's turnovers.
 
FDU-Florham plans to host Arcadia on Tuesday, February 13 for a 6pm MAC Freedom contest.
